I love You Bob. Remember to rest. You are amazing. And were all here for you. Ms Martha Caldwell Rest in Paradise
These are valuable discussions. I know that as entertainers, there is no obligation for you to engage in political/social commentary but I am so glad that you are. You are loved by many and your voices are both valued and appreciated. Hope you will continue to share your voice at this most critical time. I am a Canadian and I am also looking for a new America that aligns with your visions. The whole world is.
This old white straight lady can't click fast enough when I see a bob/pep townhall. I ALWAYS learn something and get a laugh in somewhere. If it ends, you have done well and we know you will continue. Bob we are beside you. RIP Martha Caldwell. We all celebrate you.
It's so frustrating to listen to people want change and at the same time tell people to vote in bourgeois elections. Bourgeois democracy is inherently anti-democratic and does not care for the people. Biden has already been in power for almost 4 years, and what has he done? NOTHING! Bob said that "America" changes and it's in constant flux, it's not. It hasn't changes since slavery times. Indigenous ppl remain in concentration camps, settlers remain in stolen land, black ppl are still enslaved by the carceral system. Voting for people who don't care about bettering people's lives is a waste of time and if works to also gaslight people into making them think that it's their fault for voting for x candidate, when it's not, they had no other choice than not voting, but because of liberals who don't know about politics, they think voting is the only action to make and that it actually changes things. It doesn't. Yes, local elections can make change, but for particular communities. That's one of the biggest contradictions with the US electoral system. It's so fundamentally individualist and gaslight people into thinking that the federal vote is important. In reality, the president's only job is to continue and perpetuate imperialism and colonialism. Not matter who you vote for as president, embargos, bombings and genocides at the hands of the USA will continue, and for people to think that US lives are the only ones at stake when voting is ludacris. "New America"? THAT'S THE PROBLEM! America mustn't continue for change to happen. "America"/the USA has to end. It is a settler colony, it's the same as Israel. The solution isn't for an ethnostate to continue. The solution isn't for apartheit to continue. Apartheit has to END. There needs to be fundamental change that will never and has historically never been achieved through voting. The reasons things are as they are in the US, is because they work! For who? For rich people, for companies, for the bourgeoisie, the capitalists. Voting in a system that only works for rich folk will NEVER benefit the working class, NEVER benefit women, queer ppl, black ppl (or any racialized peoples for that matter), nor any other marginalized group. Instead of telling people to vote, tell people to THINK! To really think about their values, and to educate themselves. You can't talk about bell hooks nor Black Panthers without talking socialist revolution, Lenin, Nkrumah, Kim Il Sung. And even if you still want to vote, then do it, but don't let that be the end of your political engagement. Revolutionary education is way more important than voting. And that education leads to action. Radical fundamental systemic action needed for change. The change that will actually work for people. For THE PEOPLE.
😢😢😢😢😢😢 love u ms c RIP beautiful woman
Please dont end this podcast 😢💜
I love the town halls. 😢 10/10 podcast. Love from Canada ❤
I've been quietly listening to the podcast and absolutely love it. I really hope you continue and do another season!
Damn I always find the last every episode of anything 😂 , if your not happy doing this don’t continue but I support more of whatever the girls put out
Can we talk about how FLAWLESS Peppermint looks!!
words cannot describe how obsessed i am with this song
I think all the point made are very valid except for the fact no one spoke about the abolition of the current electoral system and the structure of politics in the US. If the US wants fairness, they have to abolish the Electoral College and all of that nonsense. Also, a democracy has to have more than 2 political parties. A two party system is always one step away from a dictatorship. That's why people feel their votes don't matter, because they feel both options are basically the same option, especially when their state always votes, basically, for the same person. Here's for this season and many more! 🥂 Huge hugs for both Bob and Pep 🤗 and, of course, rest in power Martha Caldwell!✊
More of this pod please as it is so important and special to so many of us! We love you Bob and Pepp... and we loved Bob's mommy so much too! Thank you for sharing her with us!
Thank you for all the work y'all do to inform and entertain us!
I love your episodes. You two are fantastic, fabulous, and phenomenal! I hope even if it’s not as often u two find a way to bring this back to us. And of course RIP to bob’s mother 💚💚💚
This was an amazing series and your points are at the core of what's going wrong in our country. I don't think Pep was going on too much of a tangent because screen addiction and the depersonalization of human communication is feeding extremism. Games and VR are addictive for dopamine hits, as is unnecessary online shopping, as is the algorithms that keep people entrenched in their views to the point of extremism. Corporations thrive off addiction. The war on drugs has led to for profit prisons effectively using prison labor, big food keeps food scientists on the payroll to make every single aspect of their food addictive and it becomes a comforting escape for people in mental/physical/social crisis, drug dealers on the street are taking cues from big businesses and cutting their drugs with fentanyl that is turning into a horrible situation affecting already vulnerable people. I know there's more to this but we're just so disconnected from reality and distracted and misinformed about what's going on. Not to mention we've got a supreme court who wants to take our rights away and may soon decide to make being homeless a criminal offense and a potential president has said he wants to put the homeless in encampments. And when it comes to participating in local elections I live in upstate SC and will of course vote for the potential democratic congresswoman but the republican candidate who will no doubt win had a runoff yesterday I couldn't bring myself to participate in because it was a young Trump endorsed sycophant vs an extremist white Christian nationalist whose platform was attacking DEI and wasting time on going after the president's son. It's such a disturbing place to be. I want to be involved in local politics but I'm outnumbered by insane white nationalists. Where does one even begin to make their vote count other than moving to a battleground location that I have no interest living in. I have been veering towards volunteer work over political involvement because I realize this but when it comes to making a difference on a local political level it feels super hopeless if you don't want to become a struggling local politician who will constantly lose for decades... Sorry for the long comment.
Effectively using prison labor as a new form of slavery*
Love you so much, Bob and Pep. I'll be there watching whatever you do next. 🌟 Thanks for sharing your hearts and minds with us. What you do is more important maybe than you know.
We love you Bob ❤
Please please don't stop. Listening from Australia. Love all the podcasts you both do. ❤❤
As a white listener, this podcast has shed light on so many perspectives that have changed my own outlook on life, history, privilege, and humanity. You and your guests' messages are beyond important and it would be such a loss if this podcast were to come to a permanent end. Thank you to you both and your team for putting this podcast together regardless of whether it continues or not 💚 (And if anyone can recommend other non-white queer podcasts, please do!) Edit after finishing the episode: What a beautiful way to end the episode/season/show, love the dedication to the incredible Martha Caldwell 💚
our medical system drives me nuts. I don't understand. The amount of people I know who personally refuse to take an ambulance & would rather risk dying in an uber bc it's SO EXPENSIVE.... crazy. And on top of that, EMTs apparently are paid way less than nurses in stationary hospitals???? Make it make FUCKING sense.
❤❤❤
